Parchment Schools 'Beating the Odds'
Posted: August 10, 2017
Michigan identifies over 100 schools each year as schools that are finding ways to overcome many of the identifiable risk factors to low student achievement, such as low economic status, race and ethnicity, or proficiency with the English language. These schools are known as "Beating the Odds Schools" and are a special subset of Reward Schools recognized annually. Three schools in Kalamazoo County were identified by the State of Michigan as reward schools. The Parchment School District has 2 of these schools, Parchment High School and Northwood Elementary. Additionally, while not a reward school, Parchment Middle School ranks in the 89th percentile on the top to bottom ranking of schools in the State of Michigan.
