Parchment School District Website Accessibility

Parchment School District is committed to making our website accessible to all persons. We have built and now maintain the site in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.

To manage the many complexities of handling a site that works well with tools such as screen magnifiers, screen readers, and others, Parchment School District utilizes a tool to discover accessibility issues as part of our audit process. The district’s website accessibility audit is done under the direction of the Web Accessibility Coordinator and any problems found through the monthly website accessibility audit process will be documented, evaluated and, if necessary, remediated within a reasonable period of time.

To help ensure compliance with the Accessibility Guidelines, Parchment will provide annual training for its employees who are responsible for creating or distributing information with online content so that these employees are aware of this Policy and understand their roles and responsibilities with respect to web design, documents and multimedia content.

The Parchment School District website features numerous links out to external sites.  Parchment School District is not responsible for the content on these external sites that do not relate to the district’s services, activities, or programs. We make no assurances regarding the accessibility of any content that is found on these external sites that are outside the control of the district.

Links to external websites that are found on our webpage, and that are related to the district’s services, activities, or programs, will follow the accessibility guidelines, except where doing so would impose a fundamental alteration or undue financial and administrative burden. We will take the following steps to ensure the accessibility of external sites that relate to the district’s services, activities, and programs:

  • Use an accessibility tool to check the accessibility compliance of external sites;

  • Inform the external site’s developers of our accessibility policy and provide a copy;

  • Provide an alternative to retrieve the information provided by an external site as it pertains to the district’s services, activities, or programs.

While we strive to constantly maintain Level A and Level AA of the WCAG rules, we may miss something. If you find anything on our site that is not in accordance with best practices and/or rules for accessibility, let us know by contacting our Web Accessibility Coordinator. We will make every attempt to correct or improve the issue at hand. You may also file a formal complaint utilizing the procedures set out in Board Policies 2260.01 relating to Section 504 and Title II.  These complaints should be directed to the Parchment School District Administration Office.
