Parchment News

Dear Valued Staff Members and Residents of the Parchment School District,

The Parchment School District Board of Education has contracted with the Michigan Association of School Boards to facilitate the search for the next Superintendent of Schools.  The position has become vacant due to the resignation of Jason Misner who has provided excellent leadership for the past four years.  Mr. Misner will be leaving the district at the end of July.

During this search, the Board will work diligently to communicate details of the process with employees and community members.

• The Board will be conducting a full, comprehensive search.  The Board values applicants from within the district as well as from around the state, and all will be encouraged to apply and given honest consideration.  The Board held extensive discussion around having a limited search vs. a full search and decided that the full search provided greater transparency.

• Since a comprehensive process can take three months, the Board is working with MASB to identify an interim superintendent who can serve the district while the search takes place.  As the interim will be in place prior to the start of the school year, it is essential to look for an individual who has prior superintendent experience.  The Board intends to hire an interim superintendent soon.

There will be opportunities for you to be involved in this process.  Soon, you will have an opportunity to provide your thoughts and comments regarding the skills and attributes the next superintendent should possess.  This input will be used to craft a “Candidate Profile” which will be essential in identifying the best candidates.

Please watch for future updates.  Thank you for your support of the children of our district.

Sincerely,

The Parchment School District Board of Education
