Superintendent letter - Feb 2021

The Parchment School District is proudly joined 538 local and 56 intermediate school districts across Michigan to observe and celebrate January as School Board Recognition Month. This is an opportunity to show our appreciation for these servant leaders who continuously work together to prepare today’s students to become tomorrow’s leaders.

Our school board members remain unwavering in the pursuit of operating and maintaining a strong public education system.  The key to a bright future for our children is a rooted in this fundamental pursuit. These ordinary citizens with extraordinary dedication to public schools approach their volunteer work like a full time job. They work tirelessly to establish a vision for education programs, design a structure to achieve that vision, ensure schools are accountable to the community and advocate for continuous improvement in student learning.

The job of a school board member is tough, the hours long and the thanks are sometimes few and far between.  Decision making processes are increasingly complex in nature.  This has been especially true for this school year. Navigating a pandemic in a school district is complicated and stressful.  However, the gratification of their service can be clearly seen in the impact they have on our children. Our school board members remain steadfast in their unwavering commitment to our children and the future of The Parchment School District.

I personally wish to thank our Parchment School District Board of Education for all they do! Please join me in thanking these highly dedicated advocates of our students, schools and community for their service when the opportunity arises. January was the month we recognize their service, but their impact and leadership is valued and appreciated year-round!
