Parchment Schools News

Exams start tomorrow and we want to remind families of our Exam Policy.  Students were informed at the start of the 3rd trimester that we are returning to our normal Exam Policy and the staff has explained this to students as well.  Our normal policy is that all students are required to take exams and the exam counts toward their grade.  This is the typical policy for the majority of high schools.

3rd Trimester:

  • All students are required to take exams (unless they earn the waiver below)
  • All classes that earn a GPA bump, must take exams - no waiver (see student handbook for this list)
  • Exam waiver is active if they have earned it (other than AP/Honors)

Exam Information - Exams are June 8-10:

6/8 - Full Day: 5th hour Exam - Wednesday, June 8, during regularly scheduled 5th hour class and CORE

6/9 - Half Day: 1st and 2nd hour Exams - Thursday, June 9 (1st - 7:45 to 9:05, 2nd - 9:10 to 10:30)

6/10 - Half Day: 3rd and 4th hour Exams - Friday, June 10 (3rd - 7:45 to 9:05, 4th - 9:10 to 10:30)

Final Grades - 80% Current Grade + 20% Exam Grade

Exam Guidelines:

  • Students MUST take their exams.  If students don't take a required exam, it counts as a ZERO and will significantly impact the grade.
  • Students are required to take exams in all classes that grant Honor Points or a GPA bonus.
  • Exam Waiver (non-Honor/AP Class) - a qualifying student has the option to not take the exam or take the exam and it can only help their grade.  In order to qualify for an exam waiver, a student must meet all of the following requirements:
    • No more than 3 absences
    • No more than 2 tardies
    • 80% or better in the class
    • No discipline infractions, detentions or removals from class
