2nd Trimester Exams Reminder

Parents/Guardians,

We are 4 weeks from exams. So far this trimester we have had 147 or 31% of students miss significant time due COVID/illness. This does not include some families that have kept their students home as we hit the spike. As long as we are seeing significant interruptions of the educational process, either through COVID absences, or through the effects of Distance Learning transitions , we are going to run exams as we did in the fall.

2nd trimester:
All students are required to take exams (unless they earn the exemption- below)
All classes that earn a GPA bump must take exams - no exemption
Exams can only help you
Exam exemption is active if they have earned it (other than AP/Honors).

Exam Information Exams are March 9-11:

3/9 Full Day: 5th hour Exam = Wednesday, March 9, during regularly scheduled class and CORE

Half Day: 1st and 2nd hour Exams = Thursday, March 10 (1st = 7:45 to 9:05, 2nd = 9:10 to 10:30)

Half Day: 3rd and 4th hour Exams = Friday, March 11 (3rd = 7:45 to 9:05, 4th = 9:10 to 10:30)

Final Grades = 80% current grade + 20% Exam Grade

 Exam Guidelines:

  • Students MUST take their exams, but the exam can only help their grade. If students don’t take a required exam, it counts as a ZERO and will significantly impact the grade.
  • Students are required to take exams in all Classes that grant Honor Points or a GPA bonus.
  • Exam Waiver (non-Honor Class)- If you have an 80% or better and no Discipline Referrals or Detentions, you can waive the exam. This is the ONLY method you do not have to take an exam.

Many of our students have not taken exams before and we want all parents/guardians to be informed. Teachers went through this with students and we will do so again.
