3/24/21

Dear Seniors and Senior Families,

This past year has been filled with twists and turns but the end is in sight. We are now at the start of 3rd Trimester and are looking forward to the end of the journey. Given our experience last year with Senior Activities, we have dates and are planning for different options based on the MDHHS requirements as we approach these activities.

  • Last Day for Seniors is on May 21st
  • Seniors Honors Night on June 2nd (by invitation for those receiving honors)
  • Graduation is scheduled for June 4th

Graduation is the critical event. We have plans for two different venues. The first venue is Miller Auditorium on June 4th. The second venue is the Parchment Athletic Stadium on June 4th

We received confirmation last week that Miller Auditorium is not open and WMU does not plan on it being open soon. We do have two months until the graduation date but at this point it is looking like the Athletic Stadium will be the primary venue. We will communicate the decision when it is final

Information in relation to the number of guests for each student will not be known until we get closer to the actual date. This will also be affected by the format of the event. Hosting the event outside allows us to have a larger capacity than an inside event. Additionally, the students’ primary concern is to walk together as one group, versus multiple groups with more guests. Again, when this is finalized, we will share it out.

  • No matter which venue we go with, plan on limited seating based on the venue and MDDHS orders.
  • Weather – the event will run on 6/4. We cannot push the date back as Seniors have sports finals and grad plans on the following days. If the weather is extreme, we will move it indoors to the main gym. This will further impact the number of guests.
  • Graduation itself will be broadcast or live-streamed.

I will continue to update you as we proceed through the trimester

Sincerely,

George Stamas
