Parchment High School Hybrid Families,

We are three weeks from Exams and the end of 2nd trimester. There are some big changes to Exams and also to 3rdTrimester. This communication is to inform you of those changes and what to expect moving forward.

Exams – We have changed the format to accommodate the Hybrid per the District Calendar.
Exam format:

  • Hybrid A Exams
    • Monday March 8th – FULL Day with 4th and 5th Block Exams (please send note if leaving early)
    • Tuesday March 9th – HALF Day with 1st, 2nd and 3rd Block Exams
      • 7:40 – 11:40 am
  • Hybrid B Exams
    • Thursday March 11th – FULL Day with 4th and 5th Block Exams (please send note if leaving early)
    • Tuesday March 12th – HALF Day with 1st, 2nd and 3rd Block Exams
      • 7:40 – 11:40 am
  • Exam grades will be evaluated based on the following rule: if the exam brings the students’ grade down the exam will NOT be counted. If the exam brings the students’ grade up it WILL be counted.

*Please send a note if your student is NOT taking exams and will be leaving early on the full days.

Program Change - The second information update concerns 3rd Trimester. Earlier this week the School Board approved the plan to go back to 4 days of Face-To-Face Learning. You should have received a communication that has a link for you to select the program you want for your students for 3rd Trimester. You have two options for 3rd Trimester: fully virtual through the Parchment Virtual Academy or the 4 day Face-to-Face Learning. No matter which program you choose it is important to note that you will remain in this program through the remainder of the school year. Please see the 3rd Trimester Choice Communication for specific details but here are the basics:

  • Option 1: PVA - is run the same as it has been all year long – 5 classes fully virtual that students can do when it is convenient for them. Direct questions to Mr. Craig Thornton – craig.thornton@parchmentschools.org or 488-1108.
  • Option 2: Four Day Face-to-Face – all students will come full days on Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri. Wednesday will still be a virtual day. Students will be socially distanced as much as possible in classrooms. Mask and cleaning protocols will be the same as the Hybrid but with increased focus as we will be closer than 6ft. Students will be provided breakfast/lunch seating that will maximize their proximity to other students but it will be less than 6ft. Direct questions to the high school at 488-1100.

Staff and students have worked hard to keep the face to face instruction an option. We are now in a position to take another step back to normal with 4 days a week of face to face instruction. It will be important for parents to continue to follow the daily health screening of your students and for students to follow the social distancing, mask protocols and hand washing guidelines so we can remain in-person learning.

Please contact us if you have specific questions about either program.

Sincerely,
George Stamas
Principal
