Parchment Schools NEWS

Good Afternoon,

I hope this finds you and your family doing well. As we start week four, I wanted to give families an update and some information.

Hybrid - It is great to have students back in the halls and we have been working to establish connections. Classes are moving forward, and students and staff are getting into a rhythm. The face to face work is going well and our Wednesdays are also working but we are running into issues with students not doing their work on their virtual days. Please encourage your student to log on and do the assigned work on the days they are not here at school.

Conferences - Due to the later start, we will be moving conferences to the week of the 10/12-16. We are still in Phase 4 of the Return to Learn Plan so we will be doing telephone conferences and adding some additional time to accommodate for this change. We will be sending our details soon on how to sign up for conference times.

Exams - All students have to take exams this year. We will be sharing the exam schedule as we get closer but know it will be different than what is posted. Right now we have exams on 11/23 and 24. These two half days will not be sufficient to test all students in 5 subjects while keeping them seperate. We are working on a new schedule and will post it once it is finalized.

Students that had Incompletes from the Spring of 2020

Students in grades 10-12 who have an Incomplete (I grade) in a spring (2019-2020) class/es, have until the end of the first trimester (November 24, 2020) to remediate that grade to a passing grade. If classes are not passed by November students will have to retake class. This could mean summer school for students and could impact graduation for seniors.

  • After the end of the first trimester, all Incomplete (I) grades will turn into No Credit (NC).
  • Students need to get into their Google Class from Spring and finish/correct their work for credit.
  • Teachers will be reaching out, but students should contact their Spring teacher for remediation.
  • If your student had an ā€œIā€ grade, make sure your student is working to remediate this grade.
  • If your student deleted the Google Class, they need to reach out to the teacher for an invitation.

Closing Remarks This has been a long process of development with changing requirements throughout. We have spent significant time with it and it is unique to our school based on the needs of our students. We know and understand that we will run into problems as we progress through this process. We are expecting it as this is new. So please work with us to resolve issues as they arise by communicating with us.
