Athletic Spectator Update 10/6/20

The following information is to communicate the new policy for athletic attendance in accordance with the new guidelines that go into effect this Friday October 9th.  This policy does not change the fact that you need to have a ticket to get into a sporting event, you are required to wear a mask at all times, and are responsible to social distance yourself while in attendance.

Italicized= MHSAA guidance pertaining to athletic events.

Bold= Parchment specific implementation of policies.

1. The effective date of this new guidance is Friday, October 9.

2. Social distancing MUST be followed at all times for everyone except athletes involved in active participation during the contest. There is no change to the face covering requirements per MDDHHS and the Kalamazoo County Health and Human Services Department. Furthermore, there is no loitering/congregating outside of the fences for athletic events.

3. If an indoor event is in a fixed indoor seating venue (gymnasium or pool), 20% of seating capacity is allowed for up to 500 spectators (25% in Regions 6 and 8). If your gymnasium seats 2,500 or more, you would be able to sell 500 spectator tickets. If your gymnasium seats less than 2,500, take 20% (or 25% in Regions 6 and 8) of your maximum capacity to determine the number of allowed spectators.

Parchment High School Gymnasium Capacity = 2,074

2,074 x .20 = 415

415 is our allowed capacity for full gym bleachers.

207 is allowed for ½ bleacher capacity

3-5 tickets per participant, depending on the type of event.

Indoor Participant Group for Fall Sports

  • Home and Visitor F, JV and V Volleyball Teams

These groups for our home volleyball games account for roughly 60 participants.

60 participants x 4 tickets = 240 (5 = 300)

4. If an outdoor event is in a fixed outdoor seating venue (football or soccer stadium), 30% of seating capacity is allowed for up to 1,000 spectators. If your stadium seats 3,333 or more, you would be able to sell 1,000 spectator tickets. If your stadium seats less than 3,333, take 30% of your maximum seating capacity to determine the number of allowed spectators.

Football Stadium Fixed Seating Capacity= 1,780 for Parchment

1,780 x .30 = 534

534 is our allowed capacity.

3 tickets per participant will be distributed prior to the event.

Parchment Participant Groups include:

  • Home and Visitor Teams
  • Home and Visitor Cheer
  • Parchment Band

These groups for our home football game account for 177 event participants.

177 participants x 3 tickets = 531

All other rules remain in effect regarding loitering outside of the stadium. I.e.- No loitering outside of the stadium/on school grounds. There will be no readmission to the game once you arrive in the stadium.

Thank you for your continued support and patience as we navigate through this ever-changing experience.
