Gym Jam


Parchment High School welcomed the public to "Gym Jam" - the grand opening of their new gymnasium on Saturday, January.

Gym Jam festivities included tours of the new gym, locker room and weight training areas, escorted by PHS students. The school district's new website also made its debut during the event. The website features a variety of information and features including a calendar of events and news with RSS feed capabilities to help keep students, parents, and community members informed about the District.

After a brief introduction by Superintendent Matt Miller, Ken Lanphear of WVFM Radio emceed a brief ceremony at 5:30 p.m. which featured a dramatic unveiling of the new Parchment Panther logo. The unveiling was followed by varsity boys and girls basketball games with Gobles.

The unveiling of the new gym facilities was free and open to the public. Attendees enjoyed free popcorn and a commemorative keychain flashlight.

"We're thankful to the community for passing the bond and for their continued support," said Superintendent Matt Miller, "and we congratulate them on a magnificent new facility that will serve our students for years to come."

The rest of the renovations to the high school will be completed during the summer with a ribbon cutting event in August 2009.
