Health

Course Number:  #359

Length of Course:  1 Trimester – ½ Credit

Prerequisites:  None

Grade Level:  9 – 12

Health education involves learning experiences, which are designed to favorably influence understandings, attitudes and behavior with respect to positive practices in individual, family and community health. This course also informs students about current health concerns including cancer, heart disease, AIDS, STDs, etc.

 

Careers

Course Number:  #399

Length of Course:  1 Trimester – ½ Credit

Prerequisites:  None

Grade Level:  9

Careers is a ninth grade requirement designed to prepare all freshmen to meet the challenges of high school and beyond.  Students will explore the six major career pathways and understand the types of careers found in each pathway along with their characteristics and educational requirements.  In addition to career information, the following topics will be covered:  getting to know your school, learning styles inventory, goal setting, decision making, conflict management, interest and aptitude assessment, study skills, and time management.

 

Senior Seminar

Course Number:  #360

Length Of Course: 1 Trimester – ½  Credit

Prerequisites:  None

Grade Level:  12

Senior Seminar will include instruction in a wide variety of skills students will need to have in their daily lives. These skills range from the practical skill of establishing a budget, renting an apartment, balancing a checkbook and completing an income tax return to human interaction skills such as communication and problem solving necessary in all relationships.
